Best Bachelor Thesis Award Handed Over to Arno Fuhrmann
During this year's graduation ceremony on February 2nd, 2018, Arno Fuhrmann received the Friedrich-Dessauer-Preis (sponsored by the VDE Rhein-Main e.V.) for the best Bachelor thesis of the year.
In his thesis which I was happy to supervise, Mr. Fuhrmann focused on the challenge of using machine learning and deep learning methods for orientation and navigation by visual perception, based on a practical example using a self-constructed robot vehicle. Friedrich Dessauer was a pioneering scientist in the area of X-ray and radiation technology. Besides his scientific contributions, he has also been renowned for his social engagement. The Friedrich-Dessauer-Preis issued by VDE honors the best Bachelor thesis with 500€.
